From 1997 to 2001, I had the privilege of working in production at Walt Disney Feature Animation. During this time, I was fortunate to be surrounded by an extraordinary group of artists, filmmakers, and personalities. It was during this period that I discovered my passion for editing and embarked on a lifelong journey in storytelling.
In 2008, I received a call from Disney Legend and producer Don Hahn. Don had worked on iconic Disney films such as Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, and Atlantis: The Lost Empire. He was embarking on a documentary project and believed that my familiarity with many of the filmmakers from Disney Animation’s formative years made me an ideal candidate. He requested my assistance for a few weeks.
I eagerly accepted the opportunity.
Those initial weeks quickly turned into two and a half years of collaboration on various projects over 18 years. Our partnership has continued to thrive, encompassing documentaries as well as ongoing work for The Gamble House and Disney Studios.
One of the projects I hold dearest to my heart is Waking Sleeping Beauty. The film has garnered widespread acclaim for its exceptional storytelling. One of my personal highlights was being recognized for my editorial contributions in The Hollywood Reporter. For anyone who cherishes Disney Animation from the 1980s and 1990s, Waking Sleeping Beauty stands as a testament to the deep respect and admiration for that era and the individuals who shaped it.
