I first met Dan Povenmire in 2003 while working in development at Disney Television Animation. At that time, Dan was already a renowned director with credits that included The Simpsons and Family Guy. We collaborated closely on developing series for Disney TVA, forming a creative connection that endured even as our careers diverged.
Over the years, we maintained contact as I transitioned to projects at IMAGI, Lucasfilm, and Hasbro. I had always hoped we’d find an opportunity to work together again. That opportunity arose in 2021 when Dan was developing Hamster & Gretel for Disney.
I received a call from Disney on a Thursday, inquiring if I’d be interested in being considered for the show. I readily agreed. The next call informed me that I would be starting on Monday.
Working with Dan and the team on Hamster & Gretel was an absolute highlight of my career. It remains one of my favorite shows I’ve been a part of, and I was deeply disappointed when the series was not renewed in 2024.
